On this private tour in Provence your private guide will take you to some of the most intriguing ancient ruins of Provence on this trip, nestled in the majestic Alpilles mountains. Your first stop in the Provence private tour will be Pont du Gard, a huge, perfectly preserved Roman aqueduct that supplied running water to the city of Nimes and beyond. This marvel of engineering work has endured two millennia, attracting scientists, artists and visitors from all over the world. Your guide will show you the 1,000-year-old olive tree a few yards away from this incredible site.  This is one of the highlights of this Provence excursion. This magnificent monument is situated at the rim of Gardon Canyon. From its heights, one can admire the landscape of the valley and follow the flow of the Gard River, tributary of the Rhône.

Next your private tour will take you to St. Remy de Provence, on the slopes of the Alpilles mountains. You will fall in love with St. Remy’s charming streets and ancient fountains.  You will walk through the town center or you may also visit the house where Nostradamus was born here in 1503.  You will also tour the ancient Roman site of Glanum, where you can walk amongst the ruins of the Forum, monuments and baths in a Gaulish-Roman necropolis that dates from 30 B.C. You can sample some dishes from ancient Rome in an open-air terraced restaurant overlooking the Forum ruins.

Your final stop on your Provence guided tour will be the village of Les Baux de Provence, located on a rocky plateau at the heart of the Alpilles. 5,000-year-old Les Baux boasts a majestic castle, labyrinth streets and breathtaking views.  You will explore a number of other sights here before concluding this interesting tour of ancient Provence.
