All our private shore excursions from Venice’s San Basilio and Marittima can be fully customized for families, couples or private groups.

This shore excursion, a guided tour of Venice, will take your through the Ca’ Rezzonico, otherwise known as the Museum of 18th Century, set in one of the most beautiful palaces on the Grand Canal in Venice. The Rezzonicos were a family of rich merchants who became part of the new aristocracy. This palace, completed in 1756, became their lavish home in Venice. The palace has been the site of the Museum of the 18th Century since 1936. Here you can admire the splendors of that age, viewing masterpieces by Tiepolo, Guardi, Longhi, and Canaletto, as well as a collection of antique Venetian glass and the Rezzonico’s furniture. The collections aside, the palace itself is notable for its elegant staircases and intriguing rooms to include a Chinese-style salon, bridal chambers known as the Throne Room, and a beautiful ballroom.

You can extend this Venice private day tour to visit a chemist’s shop and incredible painting collection, donated to the Venice City Council, housed separately on the third floor. This collection deserves a visit of its own, particularly for those that have already visited Ca’ Rezzonico.

This invigorating private walking tour in Venice will also take you through Dorsoduro, on the south side of Venice. There are many possible walks in this area, all including historically important places as well as more contemporary sights. The usual tour starts from the Santa Margherita campo (square), one of the liveliest areas in Venice, as it is near the University. From here you will walk to the Church of San Sebastiano, where Paolo Veronese painted some of his finest masterpieces. Then you will continue through calli and campielli (narrow streets) to reach the shipyard of San Trovaso, where the famous gondolas of Venice are made. From here youwill go to the Zattere, where the tour ends with the visit to the church of the Gesuati, venice8frescoed by Giambattista Tiepolo.

Note that you can also have your private guide take you along the inner canals of the Dorsoduro to the Baroque Church of Maria della Salute, or you can stop for a visit to the Peggy Guggenheim Modern Art Collection, housed in her mansion complete with a sculpture garden and terrace facing the grand canal.

Your free time follows after your time with your tour guide. After your free time, you will meet your private boat for your return to the ship.
