Day 0 - May 21  -  Fly to Italy

Fly overnight from the U. S.


Day 1 - Fri., May 22   Arrival in Rome, Cocktails, Welcome Dinner, Overnight in Rome


Arrive at your Rome hotel where the tour will begin.  We can arrange for someone to pick you up at the airport if you want.  You will check into your hotel, your home for the next 3 nights. Rest, freshen up and meet everyone in the hotel lobby 5:00pm.  You will meet everyone and we'll go for stroll and acquaint you with your new surroundings.

 

We will walk around the hotel a bit to orient ourselves before we head to a wonderful place for our cocktails before our Welcome Dinner.

 

If you are ready to explore Rome earlier, just give us a call on our cell phone and we will come meet you earlier.  Details to follow.(D)

 

Day 2 -  Sat.  May 23  -   Vatican City: St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, Overnight in Rome

 

NOTE: MODEST DRESS TO ENTER THE CATHEDRAL AS IN ALL CHURCHES IN ITALY.  SHOULDERS AND KNEES MUST BE COVERED.  NO SHORTS PLEASE.
 

We will meet our local professional tour guide at 9:30am for our tour today.  Immerse yourself in the discovery of art, history and religion of the smallest State in the world, The Vatican City. You will visit St. Peters Basilica, the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museum. 

 

The Vatican art collection is clearly one the most important collection in the world.  You will also see the recently restored Sistine Chapel, home to Michelangelo's Last Judgment frescos. You will tour St. Peter's Basilica and view Michelangelo's famous Pieta, Bernini's amazing Baldacchino, the tombs of the Popes including John Paul II and the tomb of St. Peter's. 


You are free for lunch and the rest of the day.  Consult your Restaurant List for suggestions on where to eat.  As always, your tour managers are available for company, for lunch or a stroll.  (B)

 

 

Day 3 -  Sun.,  May 24 -   Ancient Rome Tour, Overnight in Rome

 

Meet everyone in the hotel lobby at 9:30am today.  This morning, an excellent licensed guide will take you for a walking tour of Ancient Rome.  You will see and hear about fascinating stories about the Colosseum.  It is perhaps the finest surviving example of ancient Roman architectural engineering.  You will see the forum, once the administration, business and commercial center of Ancient Rome.  There are numerous sites within the forum: numerous temples, Basilicas, arches.  Other sites of Ancient Rome also includes Arch of Constantine and Piazza del Campidoglio, which was designed by Michelangelo.  Other sites of Ancient Rome also includes Arch of Constantine and Piazza del Campidoglio, which was designed by Michelangelo.


Time permitting, your guide will take you to the Pantheon. It is best-preserved dome was the biggest in Europe until the Renaissance.  A visit to this site can also be done with your tour manager after the tour.

We'll have lunch together.  We will have lunch at a very good restaurant in Rome.  This is a special meal that has been thoroughly enjoyed by our clients. Details to follow.  You're free after lunch.  (B, L)

 

 

Day 4 -  Mon.,   May 25  -   Rome, Siena, Florence, Overnight in Florence

 

A private transportation will take us to Florence early in the morning.  We will stop in the medieval walled city of Siena for 4 hours where you will explore on your own.  You will be given a map and a list of sites and restaurants where you may have lunch. 

Enjoy this fabulous city known for the Palio.  It's car-free, full of interesting sites and shops.  Truly a joy to explore.  We will give you an orientation tour before you go off on your own.  As always, your tour manager is available if you want company.

 

You will continue onto to Florence after your visit to Siena.   You'll check into your hotel and relax.  Your tour manager will suggest a place for you to have dinner.  (B)

 

  

Day 5 -  Tues.,  May 26  -   Walking Tour of Florence, Accademia Museum, Overnight in Florence

Sleep in a bit this morning.  At 10:00am, a fantastic guide will lead a 3-hour walking tour of the city of Florence.  Details to follow. Please dress appropriately for entrance to the cathedral.

 

After the walking tour, you will visit Accademia to view some of Michelangelo's works, including the Statue of David. 


You're free after the tour.  Let us know if you want company for lunch or for a stroll.  We'll again meet at the hotel lobby at 7:30pm and head out to dinner.   (B, D)

 

 

Day 6 - Wed.,  May 27 - Leisure Day OR Excursion to Lucca, Overnight in Florence

Today, you're free to explore Florence on your own.  There are endless sights to visit.  Florence has many more museums, palaces and open markets.  You can visit the Uffizi museum.  We can make a reservation for you if you are interested.  (Please advise us early on so we can make a reservation.)  You can also visit the Boboli Gardens or go shopping.  Leather and gold in abundance.  Consult our Activities and Restaurant Lists.

 

If you are interested, your tour manager would be happy to take you on an excursion via a train to a charming walled city of Lucca, which was home to Puccini, the composer.   Or perhaps, a culinary tour of Florence is of interest.  Just let us know what you have in mind (B)

 

 

Day 7 - Thurs.,  May 28 -  Venice Walking Tour: St. Mark's Square, The Duomo, Doge's Palace, Bridge of Sighs and More, Doge's Palace, Overnight in Venice

We'll leave Florence early this morning and make our way to Venice.  We'll take the train into Venice and catch a private water taxi to our hotel.  We expect to arrive mid-day. 

 

We'll we check in.  You'll have lunch on your own.  There are lots of places around .  We'll have some suggestions for you.  Let us know if you would like to have lunch with us.

After lunch our fabulous local guide will show you the most important sites of Venice.  You will visit St. Mark's square. See the ancient political and administrative center of the Republic of Venice, the Doge's Palace, the seat of the government including the prisons and the famous Bridge of Sighs, St Mark's Church with its gold mosaics, Rialto Market and more.


You're free after the tour.  You'll have dinner on your own.  There are endless number of restaurants around.  Have the hotel call a restaurant ahead of time before you head out to dinner.  We will also have some suggestions for you.  Let us know if you want company.   (B)

 

 

Day 8 -  Fri.,   May 29 -   Leisure Day,  Overnight in Venice

You're free to explore Venice on your own today.  Venice has MANY sites.  Consult your Activities Sheet for our suggestions. 

 

If you have not been to Venice, we suggest you wander and lose yourself in the different neighborhoods.   We love going for a walk very early in the morning before the tourists arrive.  You may also walk to the Peggy Guggenheim museum as it will take you another part of Venice away from St. Mark's Square area.  You will see a different neighborhood and the museum is excellent.  Her mansion houses her brilliant contemporary art collection.  The mansion has a nice garden, a cafe and it faces the Grand canal.  You may also go to one of the other islands like Murano.  Speak to us for more details.

 

Tonight is our last night in Venice.  A very nice welcome dinner is planned for tonight.  (B, D)

 

 

Day  9 -  Sat.,  May 30 -  Departure Day
