We are lovers of fabulous food and fine wine and so one of Well Arranged Travel's favorite region is Burgundy where we conduct several custom private tours. Burgundy is the Napa Valley of France. Let us show you the region and indulge in a couple of wine tasting tours. Burgundy
is known for both its reds and whites, especially
Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, as well as wines made
from lesser-known varieties like Gamay and Aligote.
Beaune is the capital of Burgundy’s wine region,
and a beautiful city to explore. From here you
can explore the Côte de Beaune and its charming
villages and vineyards, best known for its white
wines like Meursault and other famous Grand Crus:
Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, Clos
de Vougeot and Gevrey-Chambertin.
The Côte-d'Or, or Gold Coast, is also a classic
destination for wine aficionados, where you can
spend your day leisurely hopping from winery
to winery, tasting the best the area’s vineyards
have to offer. Some Burgundies fetch the highest
price of any wine in the world. (As food and
wine go literally hand in hand, it’s not surprising
that Burgundy is also known for its cuisine,
including such classic dishes as coq au vin and
beef bourguignon.)
Burgundy also claims the lovely Lyon, France’s
second largest city, amongst its top destinations.
This city boasts endless historical sites, including
the 2,000-year-old Roman ruins atop the Fourvière
hill, and is well known for its fine silk, which
you can still see being made in ateliers. At
night, some 300 historic buildings throughout
Lyon are beautifully lit up, making the city
all the more magical to explore at night.
Dijon is, yes, the birthplace of that yummy
spicy mustard – but offers a whole lot more from
its well-preserved medieval center to its wealth
of museums and festivals, particularly L'Été
Musical (Musical Summer), a classical music festival
held every June.
